Ganadores de los European Film Awards.


Organizados por la European Film Academy, los European Film Awards premian lo mejor del cine del viejo continente. Es la primera vez que veo el evento, pues por televisión mexicana no se transmite el evento, por lo que el internet hizo de las suyas. Me pareció un evento muy bueno, quiza con mucho homenaje, pero serio y sin pasarse de cómicos, y una competencia totalmente pareja donde los máximos ganadores fueron Melancolía que triunfó en Mejor Película, Fotografía y Diseño de Producción; y El Discurso del Rey que venció en Actor, Montaje y Premio del Público, ambos con tres, The Artist sólo logró el Premio a Mejor Soundtrack, Sussane Bier se llevó el premio a Mejor Director por In a Better World y Terry Gilliam ganó por Mejor Cortometraje. Me da gusto que Melancholia se haya llevado el premio, es una joya total, ojala que en Estados Unidos se viera con esos ojos al cine.

El Discurso del Rey: La voz de un reino.

Película: El Discurso del Rey (The King's Speech, EUA, 2010)

Actores: Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Gambon, Guy Pearce, Timothy Spall.

Crítica: La más reciente ganadora del Oscar es un filme inspirador, bello y con una excelente realización.
Antes de ser el rey Jorge VI de Inglaterra, Alberto Federico Arturo Jorge, mejor conocido como Bertie (Colin Firth) fue el Duque de York. Su padre, el rey Jorge V (Michael Gambon) vió en el radio la oportunidad de dar sus discursos a el reino entero. Cuando Bertie debe realizar esa labor real deberá buscar la forma de curar su tremenda tartamudez intentando de todos modos sin solución, hasta que su esposa Isabel (Helena Bonham Carter) conoce a un terapeuta de este mal muy poco ortodoxo, el australiano y shakespereano Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush).
La película, que además ganó el premio a Mejor Película en el Festival de Cine de Toronto es un filme muy motivador en donde el hecho de hablar se coloca como una tarea de vida o muerte no sólo para una persona, sino para todo un territorio, en este caso, un reino y cómo la amistad es capaz de solucionar un problema de esa magnitud, porque lo importante del filme radica en la amistad de dos personas dispares que en conjunto lograron crear la voz que necesitaba el reino en momentos de desesperación como la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Tom Hooper, más conocido anteriormente por sus proyectos en televisión logra una realización prácticamente perfecta en donde el correcto (más no innovador) guión de David Seidler, la estupenda dirección y selección de actores y un manejo increíble de los aspectos técnicos nos remiten a una película clásica y de gran producción en estos tiempos modernos y siendo en realidad una película de bajo presupuesto. Hooper nos logra introducir en los personajes y la necesidad que cada uno de ellos tiene de los demás además de crear escenas que se quedarán a la posteridad (sobre todo los discursos importantes de la obra).

Como bien mencioné antes el reparto hace una labor estupenda pues cada uno de los personajes complementa a los demás y ninguno opaca al otro. El trío principal del filme nos regalan de sus mejores actuaciones: Firth hace tan realista su caracterización de tartamudo que la metamorfosis que sufre el personaje se torna tan real, Rush se pudo quedar atrapado en la exageración por un personaje tan extraño pero logra además de adecuarnos a sus métodos sentir una gran empatia hacia él, Bonham-Carter crea un papel muy conmovedor de una real mano derecha de su amado, que busca que se supere no solo para el exterior sino para su propia seguridad. No hay que descartar a Gambon, Spall o Pearce que lo poco que aparecen lo hacen excelente.
La dirección de fotografía de Danny Cohen en tonos azulados resalta por medio de tomas abiertas y cerradas la seguridad de Bertie, pues a pesar de que sus mensajes van a un gran público él se siente solo y desamparado y por ello algunas tomas pueden resultar algo claustrofóbicas, por otro lado extradiegeticamente al personaje las tomas de paisajes y los planos secuencia son filmados de una manera muy preciosista aumentando junto con el sumamente elegante diseño de producción de Eve Stewart el tono clásico de la obra.
La música de Alexandre Desplat es excelente, dota de mayor elegancia, clasicismo y emotividad por medio de piezas principalmente tocadas con piano que acompañan perfectamente las situaciones por las que pasa Jorge VI. Además fueron muy bien utilizadas las piezas de la Symphony no. 7 in A Major: Allegretto y Piano Concerto No 5, Op. 73 ('Emperor') in E-Flat Major: II. Adagio un Poco Mosso, las dos de Beethoven, la primera para darle mayor intensidad y emoción a las escenas en que se uso y la segunda para hallar el momento de confort llegado en la película.
No fue ni será la mejor del 2010, pero si se le podría ubicar en el top 10 pues es el ascenso de un director a las grandes ligas por una excelente historia de superación y amistad.

Premios 2010: Ganadores Premios Oscar.


La ceremonia ha terminado y la decisión se ha dado, y como bien dijo Spielberg la ganadora se integra a películas como El Padrino, las otras se integran a un club que pertenecen Taxi Driver, Ciudadano Kane entre otras. En un año muy reñido el Oscar dio lo que normalmente dio, una película de muy bella manufactura, de época e inspiradora, El Discurso del Rey que triunfó sobre otras de mejor calidad como El Cisne Negro, El Origen o Toy Story 3, pero al menos no dejó que triunfara la archi-requeterecontra sobrevalorada La Red Social ni en Película ni en Dirección. Igualmente me hubiese gustado que ganara Biutiful en película extranjera (cuando vea Haeven sabré si se lo mereció) y que Nolan hubiese ganado por Guión Original, pero bueno. Me agrado bastante que Firth y Portman ganaran pues sus actuaciones son simplemente brillantes y memorables.

Premios 2010: Nominaciones a los Oscar.



El día de hoy fueron anunciados los nominados de la edición numero 83 de los premios de la Academia, los más importantes de Hollywood. Esta edición me dejo con interesantes sorpresas, unas muy buenas, otras muy malas: la primera, que Biutiful fuera nominada a Mejor Película Extranjera y Javier Bardem a Mejor Actor; y la segunda, que Christopher Nolan no haya sido nominado a Mejor Director, lo que parece ser que esta experimentando lo mismo que los GRANDES como Kubrick o Hitchcock, en fìn, es mucho para la academia. Por lo demás me parecen más que correctas las demás nominaciones (aunque igualmente me hubiera gustado que DiCaprio fuera nominado este año y no entiendo por qué no nominaron en Montaje a El Origen). La más nominada fue El Discurso del Rey (12 nominaciones), seguida de True Grit con 10 y El Origen y La Red Social con 8.

Premios 2010: Nominaciones Globos de Oro.


 La carrera fuerte de premios a lo mejor de este año ha comenzado y de la mayoría de premiaciones que han habido The Social Network ha sido la que más premios se ha llevado. Por lo pronto nos llegan las nominaciones a los Globos de Oro que es considerada la antesala de los Oscares. En esta entrega The King Speech ha sido la más nominada con siete candidaturas, seguidas de The Fighter y The Social Network con seis. Inception de Nolan se llevó las nominaciones más importantes aunque creo que pudieron haberle otorgado alguno en actuación, Black Swan de Aronofsky no fue nominado a guión y sólo obtuvo nominación a película drama, director y actriz drama. México obtiene nominación por Biutiful como Mejor Película Extranjera.

Premios 2010: Nominaciones Critics Choice Awards


Los Critics Choice Awards son las premiaciones más importantes por parte de gremios de críticos y una de las más importantes de Estados Unidos. Este año la película más nominada fue Black Swan de Darren Aronofsky con 12 nominaciones, seguida por True Grit de los hermanos Coen y The King's Speech de Tom Hooper con 11. Al igual que en los oscares estos premios nominan a 10 películas para la categoría de Mejor Película. Las premiaciones serán el 14 de enero y estaremos para anunciar a los ganadores.
